Photo tips

Kid’s parties are a great time to get some fabulous pictures of your

kids having fun - they’re dressed up and laughing and it can make for

some magical pictures.

Just like all general photography, there are a few basic rules to

follow for the best pics.

Be prepared! Lens cap off, camera turned on, batteries charged, fresh memory card in the camera. For indoors shots if you have a separate flash, make sure it’s available with new batteries. Correct camera settings - if you can adjust your camera, try and use a higher shutter speed to stop the action, If necessary increase the ISO from 100 to 800 so you can still get the shot in low light. Try not to use flash for candle-lit cake shots if you can, they’ll look much better. Get in close to tell the story - what’s happening? Who’s looking at who and why? Try and avoid distracting backgrounds if you can, watch out for trees growing out of people’s heads.   Capture the moment - its all about timing, so have your camera aimed and focussed as much as you can  - anticipate what’s going to happen next so you can get that great shot.
